Corker Weekend

I wanted to start with Friday's outfits as I couldn't be bothered to update ya'll on Friday - Although now I wish I'd had. Bah!

Alice wears River Island blazer, ASOS dress, River Island Military boots and H&M bowler hat with all Vivienne Westwood accessories (Necklace, earrings, bracelet - Lucky devil!!!)

I wear Topman blazer, Debbie Harry tee, H&M kids tartan jeans, River Island buckle boots with Guess white enamel watch, magnifying glass necklace and my very special project which I got inspiration from ASOS, where I attached a long strip of fringing to my blazer. It worked perfectly might I add - apart from becoming attached to my chair / other people and door handles!

Anyway, let me continue with other things I have been doing. This week I bought myself a MagicMouse, and, boy, is it magic! I love the fact that there is no roller ball, and it's all one smooth, flat, white gloss surface. It looks amazing next to my laptop and on my desk, I wish I could be in Portsmouth with my glass topped desk, it would look divine!

Here is another little project I worked on. My Desert boots that cost me £15 in Portsmouth with a lovely ribbon lace, I wore these on Saturday to meet my Mother darling in London, and my feet didn't get wet! It's amazing that a cheap pair of shoes actually keeped my feet dry in such horrid conditions, I'm very impressed and the ribbon is a great touch to such a masculine idea.

Studded braces bought from Topman. I was going to buy these when they were full price, but I never wear braces enough to warrant £18 worth of braces, so when I saw these in the sale for £10, I decided now was the time to buy them - after about 10 minutes of humming and ahhing. To my surprise, when I got to the till, they were actually £3. It pays off to make an executive decision in times like these. Braces bought, bank balance unbroken.

A new book I bought on Saturday too. I saw this book advertised literally about 6 months ago and I was always wondering about it. I saw it in Asda for £4 so I bought it straight away. I never read thriller books - or many books for that matter, but everybody always tells me I should read them (mainly my cousin Kym) so this is where I begin.

I dug these Desert boots out from home in Portsmouth and brought them back with me to Hatfield, they remain unused. I cannot wait to crank these bad boys on my feets. I cannot believe I haven't worn them at all - I cannot wait to slip these on my feet and end up with blisters. Damn new shoes.

This weekend I also bought a frame for my birthday present I received from my friend last year.
Me and my friends all have nicknames for each other, usually a "pet name" which is the same name used for both of us. Me and my friend Louise call each other Tit - or a censored version of Ted in public, and any other word beginning with T, ranging from Trout, Turnip, Talc, Tin... etc. Christine and I call each other Bob, Shelley - Shaniqua, Alice - Tranny, Laura - Bean, my Siser, Marie - basically any insult under the sun... and it goes on.
But this here present is from Bob. Bob was in Belgium in the summer, and stumbled across this gem of a book in a flea market with a great title. Of course Bob snapped it up straight away with the knowledge that I love all things vintage and retro looking. I finally found a great frame (only from Wilkinsons mind you) for £3 and so I have now hung up my great present on my wall.

Now anyway, back to other important things, V MAGAZINE!!! Now my influence is so great, that after I picked up this magazine which was hiding away in Selfridges WHSmith, several people followed my lead and also bought this magazine. Lets start with the cover, I love V Magazine covers, but out of the three options, Natalie Portman in Chanel wowed me the most. The other cover I remember featured the very androgynous photograph of Natalie with a quiff and slicked back sides (pictured below) but no Chanel, no care.

Inside the editorials are all fabulous, of course, featured bejeweled body suits, my favourite two being the Givenchy, and the Chanel (which features little boob details, very cute).

What I love the most is the Chanel PVC "blister" bag. Now I was totally obsessed with this bag when it featured on the runway months ago (I can't even remember it was that long ago) But if I had this bag I would use it every day for the rest of my life until it was all tattered and worn to the point where it would just be a small piece of plastic hanging from the chain handles!

Now onto my purchases while in Central London this Saturday.
On Saturday my Mother darling was in London to see a show, but she came up earlier for a trip to Selffridges, Tiffany, Harrods and a spot of lunch. We lunched in Selfridges in Frankie's Italian Bar and Grill, its in the basement floor near all the cookery... anyway, I had an American Burger, cooked rare, and it was the best damn burger I have ever eaten in my entire life. I don't usually like burgers, but this was to die for. And only £9.50 for the burger and chips, it means I will be going back there with all my friends at any given chance! I felt like a right rich bitch shopping in all these fabulous stores!

Anyway, after my Mother went with my Aunt to Cirque Du Soliel, I carried on shopping on my own. UrbanOutfitters was my first port of call due to a white pair of perforated shoes I saw online. I love these shoes, and I had to buy them as soon as I found a size 8! They will work great in high summer with a pair of navy shorts, light pink tee and some wayfarers. Retro chic of course.

These are the other shoes I got last week, My Kurt Geiger's, I picked them up this weekend, and I love them. The heel obviously adds a little height, makes my legs look thinner and will add a spring in my step wherever I go.

I have way too many shoes already, they are taking up my floor space, but I am too fabulous to care, haha.
I also bought Factory Girl in the HMV sale for £3! I saw this film on my a flight to New York a few years back (How very fitting) and so I thought it was about time to watch this film again. All things Andy Warhol amaze me. So this was inevitable.

But after this weekend, I think its about time I started saving. Here is my money box. My sister bought this for me for my Christmas, before I even opened it I stated to her: I hope this is and effigy of Jesus Christ (My Sister knows how much I love religious icons in crystal form, or in this case glittered form) And to my surprise it was an effigy of Mary, and a money box to boot, I was very pleased of course, and this morning I put in 10p! Let the savings begin.

Anyway, for the rest of today (Sunday) I met with Alice for a Wagamama for lunch (Of course, of course) and a shop around Brent Cross.
We chatted about fabulous things like boys, food, dresses, shoes... and we ate a lot. Wagamama for lunch, a thorntons chocolate bar straight after, M&S orange juice and as we were about to leave for home we spotted several children eating frozen yogurt. We immediately searched for the glowing beacon of hope known as the Yog stand and ordered us up a frozen yog with chocolate chips and oreo cookies.

While shopping, Alice and I discussed the movies that ply us out of depression. Alice stated Factory Girl as hers (we got onto this conversation after a run through of what I had bought this weekend) and I said mine to be Grey Gardens (1975). Alice was so surprised to hear about this. Over the time I've known her, she hasn't heard me chatting about Edie at all! And even the blog I did a few weeks back went straight over her head (silly girl)
So anyway, I'm going to lend Alice the DVD as she last saw it about a year ago and I need Alice to brush up on the Edie fabulousness. I'm also lending her the Grey Gardens movie from 2009 with Drew Barrymoore. I'm sure it will give us much to talk about in the following weeks.
Which reminds me, while on the underground with my mother and aunt, we spotted a man reading his book with a magnifying glass, to which my aunt cried "He looks just like you with that magnifying glass round your neck" - I instantly though of Edie on her front porch, or in her brothers room, or on her bed reading EVERYTHING from books to record sleeves with her magnifying glass, and I just thought - I want that to be me in 40 years time! Heck, I want that now. I'm now on the hunt for a fitting magnifying glass in which I will read everything from.
We also discussed tattoos. I want a tattoo, I would only let my sister tattoo me, however, as she is a tattoo artist, and probably the best artist I know. So anyway, I decided a few weeks ago that I wanted a quote from Grey Gardens tattooed on my person. The quote "perhaps I dream too much alone" from a song featured in the movie "The Beales of Grey Gardens" would be very fitting I believe...

And to end this blog, I leave you with Edie (or Drew Barrymoore in the photo, but a quote from Edie)
